First 24 Hours
Stop the water source, remove standing water, move belongings out of the affected area, and begin drying with fans and dehumidifiers. Document everything with photos.
Drying Is Critical
Wet drywall, baseboards, flooring, and insulation may need to be removed if they can't be dried quickly. Carpet and pad often need replacement after significant water exposure.
When to Schedule an Inspection
If wet materials weren't dried within 48 hours, if you've already noticed musty odors, or if you want documentation for insurance — schedule a professional inspection.
